Welcome!
Welcome to the Bee Hive. These web pages chronicle a first year of beekeeping plus a few additional web pages during the second year.

This beekeeping journal will give you a pretty good idea of what you might discover in a first year of beekeeping. There are videos of a swarm and activity at the hive entrance. Watch the bees defend their hive from a bald faced hornet or see a swarm in action. There are lots of pictures and video.

There are exciting IBA events like the spring auction and state fair. You can see how the Indiana Beekeeper's Association can be a great help for any beekeeper from a beginner to an expert.

Enjoy the adventure!

Garland Crist Inspecting a Hive
'Inspecting a Hive' 12 x 16 oil on canvas. Garland Crist is inspecting a hive in late fall as he readies his bees for winter. Garland is one of the friendliest guys you will ever meet. He's got somewhere around one hundred hives that I saw at four locations scattered around his site and some farmland nearby. He doesn't do any honey production but raises bees strictly for Nucs. This year he is starting to raise some light colored Carniolans that should be better at surviving cold winters.

I am available to do paintings on commission. Contact me for details.
